PM Modi Extends Best Wishes to Former US President Joe Biden Following Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a speedy and complete recovery to former United States President Joe Biden, following the announcement of Biden's diagnosis with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

In a message shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated, "Deeply concerned to hear about @JoeBiden's health. Extend our best wishes to him for a quick and full recovery. Our thoughts are with Dr. Jill Biden and the family."

The 82-year-old Biden was diagnosed after experiencing urinary symptoms, leading to the discovery of a prostate nodule. Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed that the cancer had metastasized to his bones. The cancer is characterized by a Gleason score of 9, indicating a high-grade and aggressive nature. Despite the severity, doctors have noted that the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective management options. 

Biden and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his medical team. Given the hormone-sensitive nature of the cancer, treatments may include hormone therapy aimed at reducing testosterone levels, which can help in controlling the growth and spread of cancer cells. 

The news of Biden's diagnosis has prompted an outpouring of support from global leaders and public figures. Former President Donald Trump expressed his sympathies, stating, "Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery." 

Vice President Kamala Harris also offered her support, saying, "Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time. Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership." 

Former President Barack Obama highlighted Biden's longstanding commitment to cancer research, noting, "Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery." 

Biden's diagnosis underscores the importance of regular health screenings, especially for older adults. Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers affecting men, and early detection is crucial for effective treatment. Medical experts emphasize the need for routine check-ups and awareness of symptoms to ensure timely intervention.
