Hisar, Haryana – April 14, 2025

In a significant boost to regional connectivity and infrastructure development in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the inaugural flight between Hisar and Ayodhya under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. The event marks a key milestone in enhancing air travel access to cultural and religious destinations while also pushing forward the development of tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new state-of-the-art terminal building at the Hisar Airport, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming aviation infrastructure across the country.

Hisar-Ayodhya Flight: Bridging Faith and Connectivity

The newly launched flight route connects Hisar in Haryana with Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, home to the newly built Ram Temple, which has been drawing large numbers of pilgrims from across India. This direct air service is expected to benefit thousands of travelers, particularly devotees from Haryana who wish to visit Ayodhya for religious purposes.

The flight will operate under the UDAN scheme, an initiative by the Ministry of Civil Aviation aimed at making air travel affordable and widespread. It seeks to connect underserved and unserved airports in India, promoting economic development and tourism in smaller cities.

Foundation Stone for New Terminal at Hisar Airport

Alongside the launch of the flight, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the expansion of Hisar Airport, which is being developed into an important aviation hub in northern India. The upcoming terminal building will be designed with modern passenger amenities, green building standards, and enhanced security systems.

The new terminal will have the capacity to handle over 1,000 passengers daily and is part of the state’s larger vision to develop Hisar as an aviation and aerospace hub, supported by the Haryana government’s Integrated Aviation Hub Project.

Prime Minister’s Address

In his address, PM Modi emphasized the transformative power of infrastructure in accelerating India’s development. He stated:

“Today is a proud moment not only for Hisar but for the entire region. The launch of this new flight route will bring Ayodhya closer to the people of Haryana. With the new terminal building, Hisar Airport will soon become a modern gateway for travel, trade, and tourism.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of regional connectivity and praised the success of the UDAN scheme, which has seen the launch of more than 500 routes connecting over 100 airports since its inception.

Reactions and Future Prospects

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was present at the event, thanked the Prime Minister for his support in developing Hisar as a key aviation hub. He noted that the new terminal and improved connectivity would attract investments and create job opportunities in the region.

Local residents, aviation experts, and religious tourism stakeholders have welcomed the move, calling it a game-changer for both mobility and economic development in Haryana.

The Hisar-Ayodhya flight is just one of many regional links being promoted by the government, and with continued investment in aviation infrastructure, more such routes are expected to open in the near future.
