Kim Kardashian Testifies in Paris Robbery Trial: Recounts Harrowing 2016 Ordeal

Paris, May 13, 2025 — Nearly nine years after a traumatic armed robbery during Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian took the stand in a Paris courtroom today, offering a detailed and emotional account of the night that forever changed her life.

In October 2016, Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès when five masked men, disguised as police officers, forced their way into her luxury residence. The assailants tied her up with zip ties and duct tape, threatened her with a gun, and stole approximately $10 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West. 

During her testimony, Kardashian recounted the terror she felt, believing she was going to be raped or killed. She described how the robbers bound her hands and feet, taped her mouth, and placed her in the bathtub. "I was sure I was going to be raped," she said, adding that she prayed for her family during the ordeal. 

The trial involves ten defendants, many of whom are elderly and have been dubbed the "grandpa robbers." Two have admitted involvement, with one, Yunice Abbas, even co-authoring a book about the incident. Kardashian expressed shock and dismay over the publication, stating that it was "disrespectful" and "hurtful." 

Kardashian also reflected on how the robbery impacted her life, leading her to reassess her values and increase her personal security. She now travels with multiple bodyguards and has become more cautious about sharing her whereabouts on social media.

The reality TV star's testimony was met with heightened security measures at the Palais de Justice, with hundreds of journalists and spectators in attendance. The trial is expected to conclude later this month, with a verdict anticipated on May 23.
