India Expels Pakistani High Commission Official Amid Rising Diplomatic Tensions
India has declared a Pakistani High Commission official persona non grata, ordering expulsion within 24 hours over alleged espionage activities, escalating diplomatic strains between the two nations.

New Delhi, May 13, 2025 — In a significant diplomatic move, the Indian government has declared a Pakistani High Commission official persona non grata, ordering the individual to leave the country within 24 hours. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the official was involved in activities incompatible with their diplomatic status, a term often used to denote espionage or intelligence-related misconduct.
This expulsion comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 27 civilians, including 25 Indian tourists. India has attributed the attack to Pakistan-based militant groups, leading to a series of retaliatory measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of the Attari-Wagah border crossing.
