Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, announced plans to visit India later this year following a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk expressed that it was an "honour" to speak with PM Modi and that he is "looking forward to visiting India later this year" .
The announcement comes as Tesla prepares to launch its electric vehicles in India. Reports suggest that Tesla is planning to begin sales in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore by the third quarter of this year .
During their conversation, PM Modi and Musk discussed potential collaborations in technology and innovation. The dialogue builds upon their earlier meeting in Washington D.C., where they explored opportunities in space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development .
Musk's visit is anticipated to further strengthen ties between India and his ventures, including Tesla and Starlink. Starlink, a satellite internet service by SpaceX, is also exploring opportunities to enter the Indian market, having signed an agreement with Bharti Airtel to potentially bring its services to India, pending regulatory approvals .
This development aligns with India's efforts to attract foreign investment in the electric vehicle sector and enhance technological collaborations with global leaders.
